Laboratory Courses on Animal cell culture

Animal cell culture is a method of growing individual cells in a ex-vivo environment artificially created to mimic natural milieu. It is a technique applicable to many fields of biology and medicine to know the basic cellular mechanisms and mode of action of drugs and lead molecules. The art of growing animal cells in artificial condition is a highly skilled procedure and needs a sterile environment. We are having a highly sophisticated and modern animal cell culture facility with well experienced faculties. We are well equipped to provide training for students with basic degree in biology that suits to industrial application s. Now we are providing training under two major categories – Basic (module I) and advanced (module II and III).

Module I: Basic of Animal Cell Culture

Module II: Advanced Course on Animal Cell culture

Introduction to essential laboratory equipments -basic and uses –6 hours
Introduction to Animal Cell Culture –8 hours
Class on various assays using animal cell culture–mechanistic approach –6 hours

Sterilization of laboratory wares –6 hours
Preparation of media (Steam & vacuum sterilizationmethods)–6 hours
Cell culture maintenance, preservation, revival
Sub-culturing of cells, cell counting and seeding
Hands on training to students –40 hours
Hands on training on assay techniques –40 hours
Micro project based on selected assay procedures –34h

3 months

Module III: Cell Differentiation studies and 3D culture practices

Differentiation of stem cell/premature cells to mature cells in multi stage process
Step-wise analysis and identification of differentiation using imaging, PCR, western blot and staining techniques.
Culturing of cells in various scaffolds/3D matrix
